Academy Athletic Spirit
The athletic team named the Mohawks, was selected to honour the Aboriginal people of the
Six Nations in Ontario, Canada.
The Mohawk (Kanien'keha:ka) are the eastern most members of the Haudenosaunsee Confederacy, also commonly referred to as the Iroquois or Six Nations. The Six Nations reside south and east of Lake Ontario.
All Haudenosaunsee nations sit in the shade of the Tree of Peace; a symbol representing diplomacy between the Iroquois and Westerners and the confederacy of the Six Nations.
Our four house teams; Cayuga, Seneca, Oneida, Onondega, represent indigenous tribes that are part of the Six Nations.
Each tribe is represented by an animal spirit or clan; Bear, Turtle, Eagle & Wolf.
Our athletic team Mohawks lead the school's athletic spirit.
Our athletic school crest design will encompass both the Mohawk Tribe and its powerful strength. We commissioned an aboriginal artist with indigenous Mohawk roots to create our logo for
our crest for our athletic uniforms, and athletic flag.
