Morning or Afternoon Program

Monday to Friday

By the time our students enter into our Senior Pre Academy program they have been armed with many school readiness skills that should prepare them for the next rich learning environment. Our senior pre academy class has no more than 12 students with two teachers.

At this age, our students may choose between morning and afternoon programs. Some students are slowly self-weaning from naps and can manage with afternoon classes. Oftentimes, it is expected that students slowly transition from naps in preparation for kindergarten full day programs. However, our program respects individual developmental patterns and provides opportunity for flexibility with our students to be part of either morning or afternoon class.

In our three-hour program, we offer an enriched prekindergarten program. Students learn more literacy, math foundational skills and are part of a wider learning curriculum that includes social studies, science, art, French, and cultural studies.

Students learn more classroom discipline expectations and have demonstrated improved independence and self-regulation. Our attentiveness in meeting the student’s social emotional needs is part of our approach in supporting the WHOLE student development.

Our inquiry-based program is the best of what education should be. It is based on sound scientific research of the best teaching methodology for students. The pre-academy program is at the forefront of cutting edge education for students ready for 21st century learning. Our pre-academy program is partnered with the top early education departments at Seneca College, York University, George Brown and University of Toronto to ensure we deliver the best sound education with the best practices. Our school is a laboratory site where students, teachers and parents are fully involved in ensuring and delivering the best education model.

The origin of the school name Delano has English, Gaelic, Celtic, Jewish, French and Italian origin. Its' meaning is diverse but has been associated with the Alder Tree Grove. "The Alder Tree Grove reminds us of the need to blend strength and courage with generosity of spirit and compassion. There is a time to challenge things and a time to hold our peace.  The alder teaches us this discrimination and the need to see beneath the surface of things."

-The Wisdom of Trees, Jane Gifford.
