Middle School
Grade 4-6

Delano prepares middle school students that are University bound from the very beginning by arming our learners with experiences, tools and equipment that sets the path for 21st-century learning.

 

Our middle school students are preparing and developing competencies that will challenge them for Upper School.

PRIMARY YEARS 

In Middle School, students in Grade 4 & 5 are part of the Primary Years Program.

​

Once students reach Grade 5 they complete their Primary journey. All students are part of an important milestone,  the Primary EXHIBITION.

Grade 5 Graduates move to transition to the Middle Years Program in Grade 6.

MIDDLE YEARS 

GRADE 6 students are in the final stage of Middle School and now enter their first year of the Middle Years Program.

The MYP program continues through Upper School until Grade 10. Learning looks different in grade 6 and a new challenging stage of inquiry unfolds.

Our middle school students are critical learners and they need to be part of their learning experience so that they become engaged and active learners. Engagement drives their attention, motivation and desire for learning. We understand middle school student-learning needs and cater to individualizing our curriculum and experiences for their needs.

Middle school students are active learners embracing academics, athletics and student life. They are finding their voice and courage and learning to position themselves socially.

This period of learning and social networking is critical to their self-esteem and confidence. Their social well being can impact their learning readiness.

 

Our teachers empower students in positive decision-making practices and encourage accountability. We support our learners with experiences they may not typically receive anywhere else.
